David Rossi Outstanding Student Scholarship 2024

Sgt. David Rossi joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1969. For over 30 years, he helped to protect and serve the people of Los Angeles, rising to the rank of Sergeant II before retiring in 1999. During his time with the LAPD, Sgt. Rossi was involved in the O.J. Simpson murder case as he was the assistant watch commander at the West LA station at the time of the murders and was the initial supervising officer at the crime scene. Due to Sgt. Rossi’s involvement in this case, actor Joe Mantegna decided to name his character “Special Agent David Rossi” on the television show Criminal Minds, after watching Sgt. Rossi testify at the trial for the O.J. Simpson murder case. Sgt. Rossi was very proud of this, as he and Joe became close friends in the years following. After Sgt. Rossi’s retirement from LAPD, he taught Administration of Justice at Mohave Community College. His family created this scholarship on his behalf.
